Educational websites -. These websites came in very handy when Andy was younger. We live in South Korea so I used many online websites to expose him to a variety of English vocabulary, music, stories, pronunciations, culture, etc. Actually, we used the first 6, I also added more websites from friends’ suggestions upon compiling this list. For most of the descriptions I just copied and pasted from the websites’ own description of their product. (we continue to use Netflix, Youtube, kidsa-z, and IXL)

- https://www.youtube.com/ documentaries and classic shows – kids can learn without feeling the stress of being tested. They can also surf related topics as their interest expands. Andy likes to watch topics on atoms, quantum physics, time travel, etc. He’d probably hate it if it was for a test though. We usually watch when it’s just the two of us having supper together, with the laptop at the end of the table.
- http://www.netflix.com – Yes, Netflix! 🙂 I believe that our son, Andy, has really learned a lot of new vocabulary, culture, humor, pronunciation, grammar and fluency from watching his favorite videos. When Netflix was blocked from escaping the United States we used a free VPN to get it (while paying my Netflix account). Now that it is in Korea, the free VPNs don’t work so I pay $6 per month for a stronger VPN….. ( https://strongvpn.com/ ) plus the Netflix’ $9.99…….. Why don’t I use the Korean Netflix version instead of VPNing to the American version? Because the Korean version only contains about 1/8th of what the American Neflix offers and leaves out most of the more popular stuff.
